Which type of EV charger do you need?
There are three levels of EV charging. Understanding them makes it easier to choose the right setup for how you drive.
Level 1 — standard outlet
Uses your existing 120V household outlet. No installation required. Adds roughly 3 to 5 miles of range per hour — enough for low-mileage drivers who plug in every night. Not recommended for daily drivers with longer commutes.
Level 2 — dedicated 240V circuit
The right choice for most homeowners. Requires a dedicated 240V circuit and a wall-mounted charging unit. Adds 15 to 30 miles of range per hour depending on your vehicle. Can fully charge most EVs overnight. Harrison Electric installs Level 2 chargers for all major vehicle brands.
Level 3 — DC fast charging
Rapid charging that requires commercial-grade infrastructure. Not a residential installation option.

What the installation process involves
Harrison Electric starts with an evaluation of your electrical panel. Level 2 charger installation requires a dedicated 240V circuit — most modern homes with 200-amp service have available capacity, but older homes with 100-amp service may need a panel upgrade first.
Your technician determines the best location for the charger — typically in the garage near where you park — and evaluates the wiring path from your panel. Harrison Electric pulls the permit, completes the installation, and coordinates the city inspection. Most Level 2 installations take two to four hours once permits are approved.
